A Commitment to Safety

There is nothing like a warm fireplace to bring family and friends together. With this in mind, the dedicated professionals at Valor Fireplaces are united in their commitment to safety.

Home Safety Tips

Safety Screens

If your Valor fireplace is not equipped with a safety screen or screen door, a suitable accessory screen may be ordered through your local authorized Valor dealership.

Safe Clearances

Keep furniture and other objects at least 36" clear from the front of the fireplace. Clothing or other materials should not come in contact with fireplace surfaces.

Glass Remains Hot

The glass on your fireplace will remain hot after the unit has been turned off for approximately 30 to 60 minutes. Ensure not to touch the glass or surrounding surfaces.

Remote Handset

Keep the remote control handset out of reach of children at all times. Please note that removing the battery from the handset or receiver will disable your fireplace remote.

Shut Off Fireplace

Ensure that your fireplace is completely shut off and the unit has safely cooled before performing general maintenance. Shut down the unit at night if you have pets or small children.

Routine Maintenance

This practice will also help increase the expected service life of your fireplace. For more information on maintenance, please visit our Fireplace Maintenance page.

Barrier Screens - Included with Every Purchase

Fireplace Surfaces, in particular the glass viewing window, are extremely hot during operation (over 500°F at full capacity) and will remain hot for a period of time after the fireplace is turned off. Contact with the hot glass can cause severe burns. Close adult supervision is required if there are young children, or at-risk individuals in the house.

All Valor Gas Fireplaces have been factory equipped with protective screens since January, 2013 – complying with the new CSA standard, a full two years in advance of the pending mandatory requirements.

Included with your purchase, a Valor Barrier Screen is recommended at all times. Install an approved aftermarket safety gate to keep toddlers, young children and at-risk individuals a safe distance from the fireplace.
